Pre-Roll Packs in Durango | The Greenery

A long time ago, tobacco shops were called “tabacs”, and for the most part they sold leaf tobacco. It was presented in large glass jars on the counter, usually decorated with parchment paper labels indicating the leaf’s origin and price. The tobacconists were sacred establishments, places where people went to socialize and shop simultaneously, and I imagine they smelled good, like a mixture of dark wood and earthy tobacco.

But then in 1764, when the first rolling paper was invented in Alcoy, Spain, things started to change. The convenience of a quick cigarette outweighed the nostalgia of an ornamental pipe, so pre-rolled tobacco began to take over here in America in the early 1800s. Exactly 100 years after the advent rolling papers, the US government imposed a federal tax on cigarettes for the first time in 1864, and the rest is history. RJ Reynolds introduced the 20-cigarette pack in 1913it quickly became the industry standard, and then all the tobacconists that used to be neighborhood facilities started to disappear because you could buy packs of cigarettes quickly and easily at any store around the corner.

Do you see where I’m coming from? In the old days, when it came to smoking flowers, large pot-filled glass jars were pretty much all you would find at a dispensary. They were usually decorated with stylized paper labels showing the variety name, potency, and free bud price. You picked the jar you wanted and then slipped into a social situation while the budtender weighed it (but of course we always did this beforehand here at The Greenery because we know you have better things to do than wait for the weed).

But now things are changing. Pre-roll is becoming king, just like smoking, and in our industry we see a 60% increase in the popularity of pre-roll year over year. Joints are quick and easy; they’re portable and convenient – they’re everything their tobacco counterpart once was, so it’s easy to see the future of commercial cannabis: it’s the pre-rolled pack.

And that’s why, my friends, The Greenery has just introduced the Pinner Pack. The Pinner Pack is a small black box that fits perfectly in your pocket or purse, and it contains ten half-gram joints for a total of 5g of flowers, but the best part is the price: c is $39 after tax. Seriously, it’s $39 for 10 jointswhich I never expected to see in my lifetime.

For real, the Pinner Pack is perfect. Full gram joints can be a bit too much if you smoke them yourself, and they taste gross if you turn them off and smoke them later. But with half-gram joints, you don’t have to worry about that. Just take the Pinner Pack out of your pocket and light one up; it’s the perfect size for dog walks or quick breaks. And frankly, considering the amount of waste created by the cannabis industry, the Pinner Pack gets even better once you realize the childproof box is made of biodegradable, food-grade plastic. We have thought of everything.

So who knows? Maybe one day in the distant future, after dispensaries are gone because cannabis is sold everywhere, you might be able to find the Pinner Pack in every convenience store. There may be a federal tax on it, and this may just be the start of something huge. May be. But until then, when it comes to Durango’s best and most affordable pre-roll pack, the only place you’ll find The Pinner Pack is at The Greenery, because we’re your best friends!
