Cannabis Committed to The Latino Community

LOS ANGELES — Redefining what it means to produce the highest quality cannabis, POSIBL of Monterey today announces the launch of its new cannabis brand HUMO centered on the culture and representation of the Latino community. The products will initially roll out across California, with plans underway for nationwide expansion in the United States into legal cannabis states.

“Latinos are driving much of today’s economic growth, especially in one of the fastest growing industries in the country: cannabis,” says Jesus Burrola, CEO of POSIBL. “We are thrilled to bring our community a brand through which they – and our wider cannabis community – can identify the highest quality, sustainably grown flower at an affordable price.”

A full line of HUMO Cannabis products will begin rolling out to California dispensaries statewide on February 1.

A Spanish word for smoking, “humo” is the unmistakable result of cannabis when ignited. HUMO’s mission is to eliminate the stigma surrounding cannabis in the Latin American community by celebrating the community’s rich cultural history with the plant and normalizing its everyday use.

“Despite the stigma, Latinos have a long relationship with cannabis,” says Susie Plascencia, Brand Partner for HUMO. A cannabis entrepreneur and advocate, Plascencia oversees brand development, social media, marketing and sales at HUMO. “I am extremely proud to be part of a team that helps the community normalize its relationship with the factory. »

As a Mexican-American company, HUMO aims to provide meaningful representation in an industry that for decades has caused disproportionate harm to Latin American communities. From growers to budtenders to professionals, Latinos are present in all facets of the industry, but rarely receive recognition, let alone profits. Until now.

HUMO’s craft cannabis is grown sustainably in smart greenhouses powered by its parent company, POSIBL, in Monterey County, California. The companies proudly offer year-round career opportunities to the Latino community, one of the hardest hit by the war on drugs.

HUMO is a supporting member of the Monterey County Cannabis Association and is committed to empowering underserved communities by contributing meaningfully to the transformative mission of the Social Impact Center in Los Angeles. HUMO also plans to sponsor expungement clinics to help people with previous cannabis convictions.
